Built for results, not a label

Premium clinics sell results, not machines.

HydroMED Pro lets one session do what a typical facial menu spreads across three or four appointments. Cleansing, exfoliation and hydration are the floor. We layer on lymphatic drainage, RF, ultrasound and contouring because skin responds to the combination, not the single step.

The benefit you feel after one session is clearer pores, hydrated and calmer skin, a brighter complexion, and lifted contours. The benefit over a course is barrier function that holds, congestion that stays away, and skin that genuinely looks rested rather than worked.

The 9 integrated modes

A full skin protocol, in one sitting.

Your clinician sequences these nine modes based on your skin assessment. Some steps are emphasised, others lightly touched. The session is personalised, not formulaic.

01

Foaming cleanse

Surface clear of makeup, oil and pollution. Gentle, no stripping.

02

Deep pore clearing

Vacuum-assisted vortex action lifts congestion and debris from pores.

03

MediPEEL Hydra

Hydrating actives infused via the resurfacing handpiece. Smooth, plumped skin.

04

Lymph drainage

Negative-pressure rhythmic glide encourages fluid clearance, de-puffs and brightens.

05

Ice and Fire

Thermal cycle of warming to open and cooling to close. Soothes reactive skin and refines the look of pores.

06

RF tightening

Radiofrequency warmth targets the dermis. Studies indicate RF may support firmness and laxity over a course.

07

Facial ultrasound

Micro-vibration drives serum penetration deeper into the skin than topical application alone.

08

Eye-area ultrasound

Calibrated handpiece for the periocular zone. May support the look of puffiness and fine lines.

09

Facial contouring

Closing sculpting pass. Skin looks lifted, jawline appears defined.

Honest comparison

HydroMED Pro vs Hydrafacial

Hydrafacial® is a registered trademark of HydraFacial LLC and is its own specific protocol. HydroMED Pro is a different device, made by MediMD, with a wider tool set. We chose HydroMED Pro because the integration of RF, ultrasound and contouring on one platform lets one session do more.

Clinical evidence

What the evidence actually says

Reviewed 2026-05-26 by our clinic team. Every claim below is referenced to peer-reviewed literature. We hedge our language because honest evidence rarely promises.

Mechanism of action

HydroMED Pro combines mechanical pore clearing, topical infusion, lymphatic drainage, thermal modulation, radiofrequency, and ultrasound on a single platform. The mechanisms underlying each step are individually well described in the dermatology literature. The integrated experience is novel as a platform, while each underlying mode rests on established evidence. Your practitioner selects which modes a session uses, based on your skin assessment.

Evidence summary

Evidence supports the use of vacuum-assisted hydrodermabrasion for improving skin clarity, hydration and the appearance of fine lines (Freedman 2008). Studies indicate radiofrequency may support facial firmness and skin laxity over a course of treatments (Alster & Lupton 2007; el-Domyati 2011). Ultrasound-assisted delivery has been shown to enhance topical penetration in dermatology research (Mitragotri 2005). Manual lymphatic drainage has reported benefits for facial oedema and post-procedural swelling (Vairo 2009).

Reported outcomes

From published studies on the individual modes. Individual results vary.

  • Reported reduction in the appearance of fine lines and improved skin hydration after hydrodermabrasion sessions (Freedman 2008).
  • Reported improvement in facial firmness and tone after a course of radiofrequency treatments (el-Domyati 2011).
  • Reported reduction in facial puffiness after manual lymphatic drainage techniques (Vairo 2009).
  • Enhanced penetration of topical actives when paired with ultrasound delivery (Mitragotri 2005).

Limitations of the current evidence

Most published studies evaluate each modality separately. There is limited peer-reviewed data on the integrated 9-in-1 HydroMED Pro protocol as a single intervention. Sample sizes in the underlying mode studies are typically small to moderate, and follow-up windows are short to medium. Reported outcomes describe the appearance of skin features, not permanent biological change. Manufacturer-only marketing literature is excluded from our evidence base.

Who this suits, who it doesn't

HydroMED Pro suits adults seeking clarity, hydration, congestion support, dullness, mild laxity, or pre-event glow. It pairs well with course-based regenerative work like polynucleotides. Not recommended during active rosacea flare, fresh sunburn, broken skin, or while on isotretinoin within 6 months. If pregnant or breastfeeding, ultrasound and RF steps are modified or excluded. Active acne can benefit from adjunctive use, sequenced around your acne plan. Your clinician confirms settings at consultation.

Safety profile

Published data on the underlying modes report transient erythema, mild warmth, and short-lived sensitivity as the most common reactions. Adverse events are uncommon when settings are appropriate to the skin assessment. Sun protection in the 48 hours after the session is recommended. Skin of colour and pigmentation-prone skin should be assessed and tested before any thermal or RF mode is intensified.

Common questions

Frequently asked

What is the HydroMED Pro facial?+

HydroMED Pro is a medical-grade 9-in-1 facial platform manufactured by MediMD. The platform contains nine integrated tools: foaming cleanse, painless Medi Skin Extraction, MediPEEL Hydra (hydradermabrasion), lymph drainage, Ice and Fire thermal cycle, RF tightening, facial ultrasound, eye-area ultrasound, and facial contouring. Vanessa selects three to five of these tools per session, curated to your skin assessment that day. The point of a curated platform is that the right subset is chosen for the right skin, not all nine stacked into every facial.

How is HydroMED Pro different from a Hydrafacial?+

Hydrafacial is a registered trademark of HydraFacial LLC. HydroMED Pro is a different device, manufactured by MediMD. HydroMED Pro integrates nine treatment modes on one platform, whereas standard Hydrafacial protocols typically include cleanse, exfoliation and hydration. We chose HydroMED Pro because the combination of RF, ultrasound and contouring lets one session do more, particularly for skin clarity and adjunctive care of congestion and pigmentation.

Is HydroMED Pro suitable for skin of colour and pigmentation-prone skin?+

Yes, when used at appropriate settings. There are no abrasive crystals and no aggressive acids in the standard protocol. The MediPEEL Hydra step uses gentle hydrating actives, and lymph drainage plus cool thermal modes calm reactive skin. Your settings are confirmed at consultation. Individual results vary.

How much does HydroMED Pro cost?+

Single HydroMED Pro facial sessions start from £79.99 on Treatwell. Eye-area focus sessions are £65. Courses of three or six sessions are available on enquiry via WhatsApp. All prices are visible on our Treatwell page.

How often should I have a HydroMED Pro facial?+

For ongoing skin health, every 4 to 6 weeks aligns with the skin renewal cycle. Around events, some clients book one session 5 to 7 days prior for visible clarity and glow. For active acne or pigmentation support, your clinician may suggest a more structured course.
